Simplified Bonded Space Maintainer – A Case Report

Space maintainers in orthodontics as well as general practice have been less explored and less used. The reason for this is either the lack of knowledge on the part of the practitioner or because of the lab procedures involved which makes it time consuming. As a result, a number of iatrogenic malocclusions are created that could have been easily prevented. This further leads to a probable requirement of a comprehensive orthodontic treatment later on. This article presents a case report of a patient with bilateral missing deciduous first molars in the mandibular arch for whom a bonded space maintainer was designed.
